Consortium Members Publish Interdisciplinary Robotics Paper

Dr. Cameron has published a paper on empathy expressed toward, and empathy received from, embodied social robots, in Current Directions in Psychological Science. This paper is the culmination of years of conversation with engineer Alan Wagner (at Penn State, who is also in the Rock Ethics Institute), along with former post-doc in the EMP Lab and Rock Ethics Institute (and current Consortium external affiliate), Martina Orlandi. Former EMP Lab students Eliana Hadjiandreou, Stephen Anderson, and India Oates also developed and co-authored the paper. We draw upon psychology, philosophy, and engineering to consider the many layers of this question, and suggest next steps and future directions. To read the paper open-access,
