Praise and AI Research Group (PAIR)

The Praise and AI Research Group (PAIR) is a group of scholars from the philosophy department and psychology department. It emerged from a summer reading group funded by the Consortium on Moral Decision-Making. We do empirical research on the ways people receive and evaluate praise from LLMs, how this influences user's expectation of praise, and how patterns of praising varies across cultures. We also collaborate on conceptual work on the nature of praise, informed by this empirical research.
